The day has come when a V6 Mustang beats a Corvette.

Shocking. A seemingly highly modified mustang on drag radials eked out a win over a stock corvette that looked like it had a bad launch.
I'll still take the vette

Now we need to see an I6 Mustang beat a Corvette

Rejoice! :D

Procharged Vette means
"The Vette is only making 7psi on a temporary P1SC Procharger, it is around 570whp, the Viper put down 480whp and isn't spraying on this pass"
Taken from his other video. Not exactly stock is it?

Something like this?

All hail the new king!!

The vette had a terrible launch. But either way that vette can run day after day for ten years like that, I bet that V6 stang is on the edge of the engine limits.

What if I told you, that the Corvette is supercharged. What if I also told you that the engine in the Mustang is nowhere near the limit that it can be brought up to!
It is a Grand Nation V6 :D

Lies, in the vid the driver says it has stock internals! Also a pro charger slapped on a vette has to be like safest mod in the entire cardom.

Alright, so it doesn't have a GN V6. . . but it is pretty much stock besides the turbo. Which I guess shows you how not terrible the V6 is. I can't wait til they change the parts out. It's gonna be crazy!!! They said they are only running 9 to 11lbs.

My question is how much did all of this cost? Because if you just wanted to drag a mustang, there already is one. One with 662hp …. and you know, a warranty too.
Just swap some drag tires on a GT500 and call it day.

I wasn't listening to the video. By comparison though, it's a heck of a lot closer to stock. And it wasn't on drag tires, unless I'm mistaken. Let's see them on comparable tires. Or not, because it's a silly race anyways

Yeah but that is the owners fault, both the wheels and tires aren't stock, same with the Mustang. They are both also naturally aspirated engine that have been converted to FI. The Mustang is also pretty much stock besides the turbo!

I'm just saying, run that race on comparable tires and the outcome won't be the same.
I just don't get it. So the mustang beat the corvette, so what? The Corvette was never meant to be a drag car. So a guy stuck a turbo on a V6 mustang and it's fast, is that surprising for some reason?
I don't understand drag racing I guess...

Without rods and pistons it is probably 6 to 10k for the turbo kit including a tune. With rods and pistons around(installed, estimated) that is another 5ish grand(I have no idea, I have never dealt with replacing internals). Drag radials and wheels about another 2 to 3 grand. Over all, still a lot less than a GT500. Plus you get awesome sleeper status, and dat noise! Still you will probably need new driveline parts at some point. . .

I mean I get drag racing, it is like any other form of racing. It is just that where some require a balance of power and handling. . . or mostly handling(like autocross), drag racing is mostly focused on power, not to say there aren't things you can do to get more traction off the line.
I just don't get comparing cars. Particularly modified cars cause it usually comes down to "well he could have done this" or "he should have changed this." I say we just relish the fact that a V6 Mustang beat a Corvette!

I agree with that, comparisons like this don't make much sense, but drag racing in general is just another form of racing
